Blaze is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, HITS 94.3 KRKZ, and CLATSOP NEWS Pet of the Week for the week of March 29, 2020

Adopted: Blaze is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, HITS 94.3 KRKZ, and CLATSOP NEWS Pet of the Week for the week of March 29, 2020

Here’s Carrie: “White and caramel brown, Blaze cuts a fine figure. That much is apparent by simply looking at him, but like so many good-looking creatures, it’s best if you look a bit deeper if you want to really know them. Do so with young Blaze, and you’ll find he is definitely more than a pretty face. What an absolute magnetic personality he has – Blaze is like that person in any given social situation that is just so amiable and upbeat people want to be around them. You can’t help but smile when you’re walking, playing or hanging out with Blaze because he is always so, so happy. It’s infectious, in the best possible way. If ever in a grumbly mood, then spend a minute or two with him and that mood will naturally shift upward. Who couldn’t use a mood boost these days?

Blaze would love to meet you, maybe make that mood boost a permanent one. Bonus: having him with you in your home will also help you get OUT of your home right now to take him for walks he could definitely use. He may have a little extra poundage to work off. Just a little. And while he’s exuberant and affectionate, he’s not unwieldy at all and would adapt into almost any home as long as it has a fenced  yard and he meets all occupants first.” He has lived with children, who adored him.

Keeping Everyone Safe and Healthy at the Animal Shelter with Adoptions by Appointment Only

Like other organizations in the area, the shelter has established new procedures to minimize everyone’s exposure to the COVID-19 virus. First, all licensing must be done by mail while an online system is being set up. Sorry, no walk-ins.

If you’d like to visit with one of our dogs or cats, you will need to call and make an appointment at 503-861-7387. The shelter will be taking appointments from 11:00 to 4:00 Tuesday through Saturday. If the line is busy you can leave a message and the staff will call you back. Note that you will be asked several health-related questions before you are allowed in.

Only two people are allowed in the shelter at any one time, so if a larger group of you wants to visit a dog, you can meet up outside. Only one person and one volunteer are allowed in the cat room at a time.

The shelter has lots of pups and kitties who would love to find homes, so please check out who’s available at Petfinder (https://www.petfinder.com/member/us/or/warrenton/clatsop-county-animal-control-services-or53/) and follow CAA’s Facebook page for more in-depth profiles of our available animals at https://www.facebook.com/ClatsopAnimalAssistance/. Again, the phone number for questions or to make an appointment is 503-861-7387.

Thank you for your patience!

PET OF THE WEEK: NEKO

Neko is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, HITS 94.3 KRKZ, and CLATSOP NEWS Pet of the Week for the week of March 15, 2020!

Neko is one goofy boy who really needs a home! Loved by our volunteers, here’s what hey have to say…

Erin tells us…”Neko is super smart, super cute, and super happy even though he hasn’t had a real home in a very long time! He’s pretty much the “WonderDog” at the shelter. Although he can’t hear me, he responds to commands better than my own dogs! The day he gets adopted will be wonderful, even though it will hurt a little to say goodbye. Once you come meet this dog, you won’t want to say goodbye either!”

And Sue says…”A delightful adventurer, Neko’s joyfullness is infectious! He loves to play fetch, “find it”, and “let’s nap in the sunbeam”😀 Although he is deaf, he responds to your every thought. Come meet this brilliant lovebug today!”

Neko is a 7 year old white lab mix. This is one special guy who is deaf but does not let that slow him down. He loves the outside play yard, eagerly learning new skills and jumping in the pool. Neko is an expressive sweet boy who needs a fenced yard and a family who has experience with deaf dogs. He would need to meet any potential family members including dogs. Fine Tuning Dog Training in Portland is willing to provide one free training session!
