Little Bean is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, and HITS 94.3 KRKZ Pet of the Week for the week of June 26, 2022

Little Bean is a 3-year-old, short-haired, tortoiseshell cat. This beauty would make a great roommate for someone looking for a friendly and loving cat who is also a good conversationalist.  😸

True to the torti reputation this girl is a bit of a talker, and she is also confident and social – not easily bothered by much. Come get interviewed by Little Bean and see if you are a match to be her forever roommate(s)

Dewey is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, and HITS 94.3 KRKZ Pet of the Week for the week of June 19, 2022

Dewey came in several years ago when his people had to move to a place that didn’t allow dogs. He was with us long enough for everyone at the shelter to fall in love with him. After five years in what we hoped was his forever home, he came back recently, again because his person was moving and couldn’t take him with her.

He’s older and slower, but still a very friendly, happy boy, and so patient. At almost ten years old, Dewey still likes to chase tennis balls and go for walks with all of us, but he poops out more quickly and turns into a total couch potato. He’s also somewhat overweight, so a home where he gets enough exercise to slim down would be ideal.

Dewey likes most other dogs, although he would need to meet any canine housemates at the shelter. He’s good with kids, but not a fan of cats. Dewey will need a fully fenced yard. He’s on a grain-free diet for life, but healthy otherwise.

Brownie is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, and HITS 94.3 KRKZ Pet of the Week for the week of June 12, 2022

Let me introduce to you Brownie!

At eight years old, she’s firmly in middle age for a house cat, with many years of love left to give. There’s been some debate about the color of this beauty’s fur – is it brown, is it black? What’s going on? Friends. It doesn’t really matter that much, because look at that silver white undercoat of hers! It’s the black smoke coloration and it’s not entirely uncommon, but is nevertheless very interesting and lovely. I would say her fur alone makes a great conversation starter for sure…

And now that it’s started, let’s talk about what a wonderful little cat Brownie is. Like the confection she’s named after, she’s gooey and sweet, and yet the edges have a bit of a crispy chew. That’s not in a bad way – some people prefer the chewy edge pieces. Brownie loves to be brushed, until she’s done. Brownie loves to be petted, until she doesn’t. Brownie likes people, is not fussed about other kitties. Within seconds of meeting her, she was trying to rub her face against mine and giving me tiny mrrps and chirrups.

Brownie is a pretty typical cat, love her on her terms and you’ll get along great. In return for adhering to her rules you’ll get an amazing, chatty sweetheart with the added bonus of her bicolor dream coat.

Forget the other sweets, go get yourself the perfect Brownie.

Luna is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, and HITS 94.3 KRKZ Pet of the Week for the week of May 29, 2022

Adopted!

Volunteers all tell us that while Luna is a shy girl, she is affectionate and very sweet. She is still hesitant around new people but gaining confidence every day at the shelter. When a volunteer knelt down to pet her several days ago, she even “gently placed her paws on each shoulder, leaned in and sort of hugged” her.

Luna is great on a leash, easy to walk and very curious about her surroundings. She also had lots of fun running around the play yard with another of the shelter dogs last week. You could just see  her playful personality start to emerge.

Luna is a one-year-old American pit bull terrier/German shepherd mix. With patience and love she’ll settle in and gain more self-confidence. She’s worth it.
