Dominic was in foster care for several months and is now ready for his forever home. His foster parents tell us this six and a half year old boy “already knows what he wants out of life. He is independent enough to take care of himself when you’re busy, but affectionate enough to enjoy curling up in your lap while you read or watch TV. As an independent cat, Dominic also has discriminating tastes. He hisses at strangers, but he isn’t aggressive. He simply takes his time to get to know people. Once Dominic is comfortable, he loves to be scratched under his chin and will let you hold him in your lap and rub his belly. He could be a great addition to a home with no other cats.”

Daisy is a two year old female German Shepherd/Labrador mix. She’ll need a fenced yard and a home with no kitties and, although Daisy is overjoyed to be with people, she’ll need to meet any other dog family members – she can be picky. Sue has spent time with this girl and tells us, “Those two ears are simply adorable – one always up, one always down. If you are looking for an enthusiastic hiking/walking partner, Daisy is the lady for you. She has the most beautiful mane/ruff along her neck. Her intelligent eyes eagerly watch your actions so she is a quick learner and walks well on a leash. Daisy enjoys ‘find’ training or just exploring the woods: she is up for any adventure. And when you’re done, Daisy is all-in for some serious snuggling, pushing her head against your chest with a deep, satisfying sigh.”

Diane tells us..”Our Miss Cindy, a senior tuxedo female, is proving to be a nice, friendly and lovely lady cat after making the adjustment to temporary Shelter life. She enjoys the usual under-ear and chin scratching and now, with the help of a daily medication, even likes to have her back petted. She is a larger-sized girl who will be a beautiful, quiet companion as the only cat in the household.” Cindy is a 14.7 year old female cat who has degenerative disc disease.

Volunteers tell us that Maya’s favorite activity is playing fetch and running around the play yard with a ball in her mouth. She walks well on leash, knows how to sit, and is deciding whether she wants to learn more tricks. Maya was a little shy when she first got here but has since warmed up to all of us. She is definitely a “compact cuddler”. Maya is a six year old medium-sized pit mix (about 56 pounds.) She will need a fully fenced yard and will need to meet any new furry friends.
If you’d like to meet Maya, please call the shelter at 503-861-7387 to make an appointment. You can also check out her profile at the links below.
Volunteer Riki tells us, “He’s very active! He will jump from the ground up to his top cage – he is always sticking paws out of his cage to give a friendly tap at you and say hello.. don’t forget to love me! His fur is sooo silky soft. He will just fall over and let you rub on his belly He’s just super fit I feel! And I think he’s so much happier now that the eye is gone, it looks so good and healed too! Definitely not just a sit on your lap cat, but he does love a good rubbing and lots of love!”
