Rafiki is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, HITS 94.3 KRKZ, and CLATSOP NEWS Pet of the Week for the week of September 27, 2020

Meet Rafiki

Carrie says…”It’s actually not difficult to understand why Rafiki is still at the shelter. You see, he is the kind of cat who seems reticent when you are first introduced to him. He doesn’t stand at the front of his cage and demand you pay him attention, but when he is given attention it is very appreciated. He’ll roll onto his back and show you his belly, he’ll nudge your hand. He is showing you he likes you and is also showing you how very sweet (and zen) he is. He is also exceedingly handsome, with unique facial markings and his black is a cape more than it is a suit coat. He’s quite small for a tom – maybe compact is a better word. Compact, too, is his tail which obviously either encountered a mishap somewhere along his five or so years or was always just a bit shorter than usual.

Rafiki came in as a stray but has obviously had human contact in his five years, is perhaps simply a little more reserved because his time in the wild. That’s speculation. Also speculation is a feeling that Rafiki in a loving home might be a much more outgoing cat. He just needs the right environment to let his inner light burst forth, and, as wonderful as the shelter is with helping animals in need, a home with play sessions, cuddle sessions, and regular meals is that much better.

Please, someone – go get this cat, open your home to him. You will not regret it!”

Call the shelter at 503-861-7387 if you’d like to make an appointment to meet him. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday 11:00 to 12:30 and 1:30 to 4:00. Check out his profile at…

Alaska is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, HITS 94.3 KRKZ, and CLATSOP NEWS Pet of the Week for the week of September 19, 2020

Say hello to Alaska!

Are you looking for a dreamy, petite, snow-white German Shepherd? Amazing Alaska would be happy to fulfill your wishes. She is a delightful, sweet lady who is full of energy and looking to learn. Alaska is two years old who has dietary and medical special needs: specific food and medication she’ll need indefinitely that runs about $400 a month. She walks well on leash, is great on a long car ride, loves to hang out in the play yard, keeping an eye on everything going on in the neighborhood. She is a kind soul who greatly rewards us with love and snuggles daily. You’ll lose yourself in her adoring gaze and agree to anything she asks. Come meet this extraordinary girl today!

Call the shelter at 503-861-7387 if you’d like to make an appointment to meet her- The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday 11:00 to 12:30 and 1:30 to 4:00. Check out her profile at-

Dominic is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, HITS 94.3 KRKZ, and CLATSOP NEWS Pet of the Week for the week of September 13, 2020

Dominic was in foster care for several months and is now ready for his forever home. His foster parents tell us this six and a half year old boy “already knows what he wants out of life. He is independent enough to take care of himself when you’re busy, but affectionate enough to enjoy curling up in your lap while you read or watch TV. As an independent cat, Dominic also has discriminating tastes. He hisses at strangers, but he isn’t aggressive. He simply takes his time to get to know people. Once Dominic is comfortable, he loves to be scratched under his chin and will let you hold him in your lap and rub his belly. He could be a great addition to a home with no other cats.”

Call the shelter at 503-861-7387 if you’d like to make an appointment to meet him. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday 11:00 to 12:30 and 1:30 to 4:00. Daisy is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, HITS 94.3 KRKZ, and CLATSOP NEWS Pet of the Week for the week of September 9, 2020

Adopted: Daisy is a two year old female German Shepherd/Labrador mix. She’ll need a fenced yard and a home with no kitties and, although Daisy is overjoyed to be with people, she’ll need to meet any other dog family members – she can be picky. Sue has spent time with this girl and tells us, “Those two ears are simply adorable – one always up, one always down. If you are looking for an enthusiastic hiking/walking partner, Daisy is the lady for you. She has the most beautiful mane/ruff along her neck. Her intelligent eyes eagerly watch your actions so she is a quick learner and walks well on a leash. Daisy enjoys ‘find’ training or just exploring the woods: she is up for any adventure. And when you’re done, Daisy is all-in for some serious snuggling, pushing her head against your chest with a deep, satisfying sigh.”

Call the shelter at 503-861-7387 if you’d like to make an appointment to meet her. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday 11:00 to 12:30 and 1:30 to 4:00. Cindy is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, HITS 94.3 KRKZ, and CLATSOP NEWS Pet of the Week for the week of August 30, 2020!

Diane tells us..”Our Miss Cindy, a senior tuxedo female, is proving to be a nice, friendly and lovely lady cat after making the adjustment to temporary Shelter life. She enjoys the usual under-ear and chin scratching and now, with the help of a daily medication, even likes to have her back petted. She is a larger-sized girl who will be a beautiful, quiet companion as the only cat in the household.” Cindy is a 14.7 year old female cat who has degenerative disc disease.

Cindy has been at the shelter for quite some time and would really love a wonderful home that can meet her needs! The shelter is keeping everyone safe with adoptions by appointment only. Submit an application and make an appointment at 503-86l-7387. Appointments are available Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm.
