Psst, come here for a second and let me tell you something. It’s about this dog who’s been at the shelter for a while now. His name is Peanut (I think he looks more like a Vern, but that could just be me) and he is a hidden-in-plain-sight gem of a dog.
Peanut is youngish, between 3 and 4 years old, and he has the energy to show for it. This boy is an absolute goober of a dog, and I mean that in a good way. The kind of dog that’s a pain in the rear in such an endearing way you can’t help but just adore the heck out of him.
You see, Peanut will do ANYthing to get a treat. If he knows you have a treat, it will literally be his sole goal to get those yums in his tum. He’s incorrigible and also a good boy who WILL let the treat obsession go if you tell him too firmly and lovingly. And then sneak back to the routine just to see if it’ll work. He knows the power of those eyes of his, that handsome mug, that boopable boop. Being a hound mix, as you walk he will alternate between being a nose detective and imploring you for a treat before he wastes away to practically nothing.
As mentioned, Peanut has been around the shelter for a while and he’s starting to get a little antsy. Who can blame him? He knows there’s a person out there ready, willing and able to walk/hike with him, play a rousing game of fetch and then stuff him full of food (see if he likes broccoli so he doesn’t develop a paunch) and he’s trying to wait patiently! He just wonders what is taking so long.

Peanut is full of charm.
His eyes are chocolatey warm.
Come meet this very good boy.
Promise you it is no ploy!
You will have no regrets.
Because Peanut is the best.
No more rhymes, now. I mean it.
ANYBODY WANT A PEANUT??
