Gidget is our KMUN, THE ASTORIAN, 94.9 THE BRIDGE, WARRENTON KIA, and HITS 94.3 KRKZ Pet of the Week for the week of April 25, 2021

Adopted! Although these two didn’t know each other before they came to the shelter, they have been inseparable ever since Dollie decided to join Ollie in his kennel.
Diane tells us, “Our recently bonded cat couple, orange tabby Ollie and dilute tortie Dottie (or Otty and Dolly when memory fails) are still preferring to stay under covers. The cat adoption room is too busy with many cats and humans coming and going all day, but they are allowed to roam freely in the room at night when they feel safe. They found each other after arriving in adoption and have continued as a loving pair ever since, finding comfort in each other. They are both very sweet and Dottie especially likes petting and under-chin scratching. In a peaceful home after becoming settled, they will most likely relax and enjoy life.”

Pet meet and greets are by appointment only, so if you’d like to meet this pair, submit an application in advance by going to the shelter’s Adopting a Pet page at https://www.co.clatsop.or.us/animalcontrol/page/adopting-pet. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the application. Be sure to date it next to the signature line (applications are reviewed in the order they are received) and put the name of the animal you are interested in at the top. You can then save the application to your computer and email it to ac@co.clatsop.or.us or deliver it directly to the shelter. Application forms are also available on the front door of the shelter and can be filled out and turned in on the spot. A shelter staff member will review the app and call you to set up an appointment. Due to Covid restrictions, only two people are allowed in the shelter at one time and each visitor is asked several health-related questions before being allowed in.
Adopted! Volunteers say he likes to watch out the cat room window at all the activity in the shelter lobby once he has gotten attention, affection, and love. This four year old boy likes other cats but would prefer a home without dogs.

Alaska is looking for a home where she can share her affection and love of life (although her affectionate nature doesn’t extend to cats). This young German shepherd will happily spend hours playing ball or walking before cuddling up for a nap.
Alaska needs ongoing medication and a special diet; call the shelter at 503-861-7387 for an appointment or for more information about her special needs. The shelter is open 11:00 to 4:00 Tuesday through Saturday. You can also fill out an application at the shelter’s Adopting a Pet page: https://www.co.clatsop.or.us/animalcontrol/page/adopting-pet. Scroll to the bottom of the page for the application.

Wall-E the puppy was adopted in May and is getting bigger and doing very well. Here’s what we heard from his new mom, Shawna:
“Wall-E is doing great & growing fast! Had more than doubled his weight! He is very playful, smart, and learning he has a little bark lately 😂 He is full of love if he is not playing or chasing you. He often rides with his dad in the front seat of the truck on security patrols through Surf Pines and everyone he meets loves him! He also goes to work with me a couple/few times a week. He plays well with other dogs in the community and is learning his manners while meeting elderly residents 😊 And of course, has taken over the house & sleeps above our heads in bed 😊. He is very spoiled and loving his new home.
Thank you so much for allowing us to adopt Wall-E he is a perfect fit!”
